The Alumni House provides a friendly housing option for Alumni and University guests. It is situated just one block off campus and is a convenient location for anyone attending University events. The house offers 4 bedrooms that can accommodate up to 8 guests, a first floor living room, dining room, and kitchen. The first floor is also home to the Winona State University Retiree Center and is wheelchair accessible.

Guests of the Alumni House must be affiliated with Winona State University (alumni, students and their families, faculty, staff, university guests).

Room Rates

$35/room/night + tax, payable at the time of the reservation (= $37.58/room/night, tax included).

For liability issues, we cannot allow guests under the age of 5. We do not have equipment to accommodate young children and the house is not child-proofed for their safety.

Same Day Reservations
If you are reserving less than 24 hours in advance, please contact us to make sure a room can be prepared before you pay. During summer, do not make reservations less than 48 hours prior. Refunds will not be issued.

Facilities

There are four guest bedrooms on the second floor of the Alumni House (see pictures in the Room Reservations process).

  • Room A and Room D have one full-size bed
  • Room B and Room C have two XL twin-size beds.
  • Rooms A and B share a bathroom; there is a common bathroom on 2nd floor for all guests to use as well.

Each room includes bed(s), closet, alarm clock and TV. Linens are provided (sheets, towels and washcloths); guests are responsible for their own toiletries.

We do not offer room service but the Alumni House Assistants who live on-site can be contacted, if needed.

Guest parking is available in the driveway; guests receive one parking pass with each room reservation.

Overnight guests are welcome to use the first floor facilities during their stay (kitchen, dining room, living room with TV). The first floor may be reserved for small University events and we ask that guests be respectful of others using the facilities.

Check-in During the Academic Year:

  • After 5pm
  • Keys and parking pass must be picked up at the front desk of Haake Hall (223 W Mark Street).
  • Late arrivals (after 11pm Monday-Thursday, after 7pm weekends): Guests will need to contact a Haake Hall staff member to get the keys upon arrival (contact information is posted at the entrance of Haake Hall).

Check-in During the Summer:

  • keys must be picked up at the front desk of East Lake C (636 Franklin Street) between 5pm-7pm.
  • If you need to check-in later, you will need to contact the East Lake staff to get the keys upon arrival. Contact information is posted at the entrance of East Lake C.

Check-out

  • Check-out time is 11am; keys can be returned in drop box at the Alumni House.

Alumni House Policies

The Alumni House is property of Winona State University, therefore, all WSU policies apply to Alumni House guests.

Winona State University is an alcohol and tobacco free campus.

Guests must be at least 18 years old to reserve rooms.

Please notify the Alumni House 24 hours in advance if you no longer need the space so that we may issue a refund. Refunds take 4-6 weeks to process and require a W9 form to be filled out which will require your social security number, please limit reservations if you are not certain you will be staying or not comfortable giving this information to WSU. There will be no refund for a cancellation received less than 24 hours in advance.

Guests are free to use the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Free wifi internet connection is available throughout the house, however there are no printing/faxing/copying capabilities for guests.

Guests using the kitchen should wash dishes and wipe down tables/counters after each use.

Winona State University is not responsible for any lost or stolen items from the Alumni House. This includes anything that may be left behind by guests. We recommend that guests keep their belongings in their room during their stay.

Meetings & Events

Winona State University student clubs/organizations, staff, faculty, retirees or alumni can rent the first floor of the Alumni House for a meeting or small event (maximum attendance of 25) for a minimum fee of $140. Email us at alumnihouse@winona.edu or call 507.457.2978 to check availability.

All meeting/event guests must comply with the Terms of the Alumni House. It is the responsibility of the event coordinator to communicate those terms to all those attending. Please remember that the Alumni House is alcohol and tobacco free.
